As a poppy grows on the edge of my street,
It makes me think, it makes me weep,
The day you died I will not forget,
I did not know you, we have not met,
You fought so hard the young & old,
Shoulder to shoulder, brave & bold,
Thousands upon thousands by land, air & sea,
You gave your life so I could be free,
So, I will remember the fallen,
And I will honour you with pride,
I will remember the 11th of November,
I will tell people why you have died,
Goodbye my friend & thank you,
For this life I have is good,
I will think of this little red flower,
I am sending you all my love.
